Hill Bros to Open Expanded Livery Barn in Carthage

Hill Bros acquire Mary Ann Hill’s livery barn and ground and plan a rock faced front barn on the street with elegant rubber tired service. Plans not mature yet but offices for both sexes will be provided and Cyrus Rhoades to manage the new venture.

Thanksgiving observances at School and community events

The School plans Thanksgiving activities with in class songs and recitations on November 29 and asks pupils to donate for the needy. Rev. Trublood spoke at Chapel and Mrs Johnson and Mrs Stinger hosted a thimble party for Mrs Wall of Marion. A D of R meeting will host a social next Monday with a Thanksgiving program and members are urged to attend.

Grace E Steere Dies in Carthage Cerebral Hemorrhage

Grace E Steere, longtime Carthage resident and chairman of the Friends Lab School, died suddenly from a cerebral hemorrhage likely around 2:00 a.m. on the 10th. Funeral services were held at 2:15 p.m. Sunday with large crowds paying tribute. Her death leaves a void in local church, library, and mission circles.
