Grituary Lovena White Dies After Measles At East Greenfield

Lovena White born February 8 1865 in Randolph County North Carolina died May 1904 at her home in East Greenfield from measles settled on the lungs aged 39 years. She was a devoted Christian and home maker, widow of Wilson White, mother of Floyd Amanda Roy Russell and Henry, and a beloved member of the Friends Church. Her life reflected sacrifice kindness and faith and she will be remembered as a living epistle read by all. Maniah J. Elliott

Fire at strawboard plant injures worker and damages engine

Sunday night blaze at the strawboard plant in Carthage swept through engine, pump and boiler rooms. Sufferer J C Binford badly burned, while fellow worker Siler aided firemen before losing consciousness. Fire damaged the large drive belt, windows broke, and water service was impaired. repairs to begin soon as possible.

Piskerman Visits His Sisters After Twenty Five Years

Hark A Piskerman arrives to visit his two respected sisters Rebecca Pickering and Murah Miles. It has been twenty five years since their last reunion and Mr Pickering’s Saturday arrival surprised the sisters due to their poor health. He plans a stay likely longer than a short visit, marking his first return to Iowa from Indiana thirty four years ago. Mrs Pickering traveled with him to Chicago and will continue to Carthage soon to join her daughter.

The School Board of RWShville has removed P. McCreg from the role of superintendent after six years of service while Prof. J. is brought in to fill the position. The departing district leaders and the community regret the change but wish the McCregs success in their new endeavors.

Tiny Folsom Child Dies at Age Two

Mildred Louise Folsom daughter of Ur and Martha Folsom born April 1 1902 died May 8 1904 aged 2 years 1 month 8 days. The home source says she brought joy and is now at rest awaiting Papa Mama and baby brother. Services held at home Monday 2 30 p m conducted by Reverend Wallaly of Friends Church with interment at Riverside Cemetery.

Reports say Carthage may host a major gas belt oil field with exploration near Harvey Catt farm where a 12 year old abandoned well yielded strong oil indicators. Inspectors will assess the site while local church rally services invite participation with predicted sermons and offerings. Shirer's Hardware advertises poultry fence and wire goods.

Dr T Creger and party survive runaway buggy crash

Sunday morning Mrs Creger with her two year old Wyckoff and Miss T Klaney set out for Falmouth with a grey horse. A harness break spooked the animal near Raleigh driving the buggy into a tree and wrecking the rig. The horse dragged the shafts before stopping after a frantic flight that tore the shaft and rig. Bennett Webb witnessed the scene and brought the travelers to Raleigh where relatives later joined them. All escaped with bruises and no broken bones. The horse sustained cuts and the buggy was wrecked.
