The Good Times Club enjoyed hospitality at Dr and Mrs Id A Sipe last Tuesday evening with a merry time into the early hours. A laughable moment came when a man and woman chewed a string attached to a candy hunk to claim it first. Refreshments included excellent cake, coffee and ice cream. The notice ends by noting it is time for house cleaning and buying oilcloth and linoleum from W H Sharer.
Prof and Mrs Eldridge from Knightstown praised the local band after a Thursday visit. The professor drilled the band, noting they were in first class trim for rapid advancement. Mrs Eldridge stayed as a guest of Mr and Mrs J D Dennis.

Miss Florence B Hunt invited young ladies to a Tuesday evening gathering at her home. Guests represented familiar and obscure advertisements, aided by her mother who served ice cream cake and coffee. Cards revealed each guest’s chosen advertisement amid a night of games and pleasant chatter.
The W F M S will meet at the home of Mrs Lizzie P Hill on Thursday afternoon May 16 at 2 30 o clock. The program includes devotional by Ella Newsom roll call responses from the missionary world missionary lesson led by Luzena Thornburg with Henry Martin and Ida S Henley serving on the committee order of committee present.

William Hopkins paid 25.30 for four close range shots at Charlea Cook, a colored man, after a wrestling altercation at the stave mill. Cook denied throwing a crowbar. Hopkins was jailed in Ruebville, with charges reduced to assault and carrying concealed weapons. fines and costs totaled 25.30.
The Blue River township high school commencement will be held Saturday evening May 4. Music by Montana Bros. of Indianapolis. Class address by Rev. T H Kuhn at the Blue River high school building near Westland. A new stock of hats flowers and trimmings just arrived. Call early for selections. Mattie Bentley.
Indiana G A R annual encampment scheduled for May 15 16 and 17 in Logansport. Attendees expected to be large due to appealing program and low railroad fare. City anticipated to have strong representation from G A R circles in northern Indiana.
Earlham defeated Indiana University for the third time in the intercollegiate debate and retains the state championship won four years ago from DePauw. The affirmative supported subsidizing the merchant marine with Earlham’s Bryan Robbins Luther Feeger Albert Copeland. Judges included John L. Griffiths presiding and John Hadley Prof George Knight Merrill Moores.
