Resurrection in a Poor Farm Home
Ruth, a dying girl from the nearby poor farm, seeks to die in Mrs. Whitaker’s house but finds warmth and purpose instead. The two form a bond as Ruth recovers enough to eat and laugh, while Whitaker contemplates a new “play mother” role and helps Ruth see heaven as something within. Easter morning ends with Ruth choosing to live and Whitaker offering shelter.
