Death of George Dillman at 53 in Carthage

George Dillman a stockman and Civil War veteran died of apoplexy Wednesday evening in Carthage at age 53. He collapsed while hitching his buggy, lingered through the night, and passed away at 8 p.m. He served in Company F, 1st Ohio Light Artillery, was a member and former commander of Elwood Hill Post, and took part in Nashville, Stone River, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge and Perryville. Funeral is set for 2 p.m. at the M E Church with Rev Anthony delivering the address. Relatives and neighbors mourn his loss. preparations followed the county convention where Rashville township candidates were nominated.

Republicans Gather at Rushville for Campaign Balloting

Republican delegates from Ripley and nearby townships met at the Rushville courthouse to name color bearers and endorse the ticket. Ed N. Hill chaired Ripley group with J. D. Dennis secretary, pledging support to Allen W. Newsom for County Assessor and naming county contenders with unanimous acclaim. Delegates praised the administration and Congressmen, denying any rift over Porto Rican policy.

Democratic Convention Delegates Chosen in Ripley Township

Ripley township Democrats met at Carthage town hall on March 24 to select delegates and alternates for congressional and county councilmanic conventions. Edward Bu was named Chairman and Lucian E. Sample Secretary. Delegates include George Dillman Albert Earnest and Jenicia L. D. W. Kirkwood with many listed alternates.
