Mrs Henry Henley fifty five and sixty years old and her husband Owen 8 Henley of Ithage were killed Friday when their buggy was struck by a Monon flyer near Carmel at 7 25 pm. They did not see the speeding train until too late and were killed instantly. The couple were en route from their home in the country when the crash occurred.
Knightstown and A. O. Hill and wife, Mrs. Ann Hunt, Miss Florence B. Hunt, Owen S., Milton, Clyde C. and Hiram Henley of Carthage are named in a regional notice listing residents and relations likely involved in a community matter.
In Carmel near Carthage a train incident killed Henry Henley and his wife, Mrs. Avis Macy Henley, after they failed to notice an approaching flyer. Henry, born January 30, 1880, was the eldest son of Thomas and Abigail Henley, longtime Carthage residents. Surviving children and grandchildren mourn him. services were held at the Friends church with burial in Carmel cemetery.
Fresh fish at Phelps bakery tomorrow. J. H. McCarty visited Greenfield on Monday. Newsom's offers installment carpets and 44 inch Mohairs in all colors. Lew Stanley returned from Indianapolis Sunday. Randal Hill came home from Rushville over Sunday. Mrs Mont Porter was in Knightstown at week’s start. A C Jones made a business trip to Indianapolis Monday. Ed Adkins sold two carloads of hogs the first of the week.
The town council of New Castle has secured a $15,000 liability policy with 4n insurance agent to cover injuries from defective sidewalks. Suits filed in the past year total about $10,000 in judgments, the largest being $7,500 awarded to Claude Grubbs in Delaware circuit court. Premiums are high, but the policy is deemed cheap given recent developments.
Mr. J. C. Bayne editor of the Herald Addington Indian Territory says he remains afflicted with rheumatism but Chamberlain's Pain Balm enables him to attend to business again. He calls it the best liniment with prompt relief from a single application. Sold by all druggists.
