Fatality at Rushville Ex-Sheriff Wilson Killed by Train

Ex-sheriff George W. Wilson, 60, was fatally struck at the Main street crossing by a Cincinnati Express. The engineer and flagman were not found at fault. Wilson died within minutes after the collision. He was a Civil War veteran, twice Rush county sheriff, and a Grand Army man. Surviving widow, two sons, two daughters. One son with Company H, 161st Indiana, at Havana, Cuba.

Hicks was jailed as the Ronhilt family arrives to manage the Illinois House. In West Fork Crawford County a colored family faces hostility as white students flee a classroom when a Negro girl appears, teachers cite no mixed schools and the case remains unsettled.

Terre Haute Firm Wins Contract for U S Mail Wagons

A Terre Haute carriage firm secured a contract to supply 150 U S Mail wagons for use in multiple midwestern states. Wagons come in three sizes with red running gear blue body white belt and panels red roof and screens blue rear with gold leaf U S Mail lettering. Malpractice Charged In Indianapolis Case

Dr. Calvin J. Fletcher was arrested on a malpractice charge connected to the death of Laura McDaniel in Indianapolis. Attorney Thomas Doyle was also arrested as an accessory, and coroner Gasarday was notified of the death claimed by Dr. Fletcher.

Indiana regiment builds Cubal monument with coral rock shaft

The 161st Indiana regiment is erecting a 20 by 20 foot base and a 20 foot shaft in Havana to honor comrades who fell in Cuba. Masons of the regiment, led by Lt. Col. Backus, oversee the project using coral rock at an estimated cost of 2000 dollars and a dedication planned for next week. Also, Dr. H H Gillen, wealthy Wabash physician and Deland orange grove owner, died in DeLand Florida after long cancer illness. He was born in 1818 in Mount Sterling Kentucky and practiced medicine since 1838. He moved to Wabash in 1854 and is survived by four daughters and one son. remains to be buried in DeLand.
