Sunday through Wednesday updates show residents visiting, illness and deaths, political campaigns, and town events. Notables include Mrs Owen S Hill and Luther Bond moving, Thomas Hill ill with pneumonia, Judge work on courthouse case, and efforts by W C T U and local churches planning social events.
The Epworth League invited Friends Christian Endeavorers to O. O. F. Hall for a 7 to 10 social evening. President F. H. Holt welcomed guests as cards with questions circulated, music played by the Carthage Cornet Band and mandolin, organ, and refreshments followed by a parade of marches. Both groups praised the event for fostering social unity in their shared work.
In the Crimea fruit preservation emerges as a new industry and has advanced rapidly. Numerous factories now process and store large quantities of preserved fruit, signaling swift industrial development in the region.
At the bride’s parents’ home in Westland on Wednesday evening a quiet wedding took place uniting Edgar V. Toms and Elma Powers. Rev Jared P Binford officiated. The couple will reside in their new home near Westland and host friends after the 25th.
Martha Ann Gibson wife of Oliver Morris died at her home in Charlottes ville on Thursday March 12 aged 53 years 4 months 24 days She was a life long Baptist member faithful wife and mother and leaves a husband nine children and seventeen grandchildren Funeral services were held at Westland chapel with the Rev Anna Moore officiating
The Republicans of Indiana Sixth Congressional District will meet in New Castle at 10 a.m. on April 16, 1896, to nominate a congressional candidate. Representation is one delegate per 100 and a fraction of 50 or more votes cast for William D. Owen for Secretary of State in 1894. L. P. Marcuzzi is district chairman and E. C. Thompson is secretary.
The New Pair Circuit was organized yesterday at Indianapolis with Bushville Republican and several towns including Winchester and Portland. Each association will offer $40 and 60 percent of the total will go to the horse winning the most heats, with 40 percent to the runner up. Uniform rules were adopted governing fair privileges.
Wn P Binford has had an attack of the grippe but is now better. Mrs Wm Henley is reported very low with recovery doubtful. James Patterson and wife of Iowa, former residents, are visiting relatives in this community. Rachel P Hill has been quite sick for two weeks requiring constant care but is improving.
In Lynn Creek Valley wheat prospects look poor this season. John Downey lost a good horse last week. B O Binford of Dublin visited his farm Wednesday. T B Nelson shipped a car load of hogs to Indianapolis Monday. Mrs Anna Coffin and son Willis visited relatives at Fountaintown last weekend. Rev Mrs Marsh Wines of Brookville preached at Riverside Wednesday evening. John Downey sold personal property Tuesday to good prices. Miss Emma Clark closed her term of school at Till i w iggan Friday with an interesting program by the scholars.
Irvin Price reports his young daughter Donna is quite ill. Oma Willis visited Mrs Sal lie Price last week. Jane Reddick visited her brother George in Knightstown. Frank Price and Milton Reddick were in Rushville Thursday. An average gas well has just been drilled on William Leisure’s farm.
