William Hill 1827 1808 Blacksmith who died at 70
William Smith Hill son of Nathan and Elizabeth Hill was born near Walnut Ridge on October 21 1827 and died in Carthage January 8 1908 aged 70 years 2 months and 17 days. He married Mary Ann Newsom on September 27 1855 and had eleven children nine of whom survived him. He learned blacksmithing in the early fifties and worked at the trade most of his life except for short stretches in farming and mercantile pursuits. He was generous and loved his home and family. His death brings sorrow to his wife two children and many relatives and friends.
