Parties to Welcome New Century Preserve Old Traditions

Families staged gatherings to celebrate the turn of the century in a lively social scene. Hosts included Benton Henley and J A Sipe, with many friends and neighbors at Gurney Nixon’s home and the New Hill Hotel. The night featured turkey dinners, a taffy party, and a midnight oyster chafing dish supper as youths shared music games and stories of travel along the C O canal.
