Mrs Evans mother of Prof Jesse F Evans died at her home on North Main Street Tuesday evening at 8 30 o clock after a two week illness. She moved here with her son from August and funeral services were held at the M E Church Charlotteville with Rev Earl Nafizzer presiding. Interment followed at Knightetown cemetery beside her husband who died two years ago.

Junior Class Entertained by Misa Sharer at South Main

On Tuesday evening the Junior Class visited Misa Grayce Sharer’s home on South Main Street. The group arrived at 7:30 and played games before supper, then enjoyed refreshment and piano selections by Henry Stringer and Miss Sharer. An older guest performed a cakewalk, delighting the company before departure around 10:30.

R H Hill & Company Buy Main Street Block in Carthage

R H Hill and Company have purchased the brick building on Main Street now occupied by J H McCarty Son drug store of the Johnson Brothers. They will begin a brick extension to the east line of the lot when weather allows. Additions will be brick and stone with a new plate glass front. The second story will be refitted for carpets draperies and linoleums.

The Record Moves to New Office in Hill Block

The Carthage Record announces its new office location in the A. O. Hill block one door north of the tank. The move began Friday morning and has continued with papering painting and carpentry. The new Record will soon boast a finer tone.

Edinburg’s municipal lights and water win praise

Edinburg runs light and water plants at low cost with municipal ownership. Electric light costs ten cents per month per residence, stoves and offices twenty five cents, water hydrants eight cents per foot per year and four dollars per year for hydrants in homes. Telephones cost 1.50 monthly for business districts, 75 cents for town residences, and 50 cents for country homes. Churches and lodge halls pay five cents per month for electric light.
