May Consolidate Farmers and Carthage Telephone Co

Noble Bassett Injured in Train Yard Accident
Noble Bassett a prominent farmer and stock buyer living a half mile north of Morristown was struck by a railroad car while loading cattle. He suffered severe injuries including the amputation of his right arm and serious damage to his right foot and ankle. Surgeons at McCray sanitarium and local doctors performed the amputation and dressed the foot. Age 42, Bassett had served as township trustee and was widely known in Shelby. Initially bleeding and shock were grave, but hopes for recovery improved with treatment. he rested well Thursday night.
