Reunion of Henley and Hill Families at Glen Miller Park
About three hundred Henley and Hill relatives gathered at Glen Miller Park for the twelfth annual reunion. The informal affair featured friendly greetings and a substantial picnic supper with ice cream, followed by farewells. The families trace roots to 1821 in Randolph County North Carolina and Blue River country Indiana. The next reunion will be at Carthage on August 11, 1397.

British Quaker View on U S Presidential Election
The British Friend notes the coming U S election could bring serious consequences. It warns that McKinley’s protectionism may be unwelcome by English manufacturers while Bryan’s free silver policy could trigger a severe financial crisis. It argues Western borrowers favor silver, opposing Eastern and English capital, and foresees a socialistic wave and costly lessons in sound finance.
