Carthage Defeats Rushville 16 2 In Local Baseball Clash

Carthage hosted Rushville in a school grounds game, delivering a dominant 16 to 2 win. Highlights include strong Carthage batting led by Gates and a standout battery of Publow behind the plate and Harry Rhoades on the mound. Scoring surged in multiple innings as Rushville failed to keep pace.

Bold Robbery at Post Office Delivers Stamps and Cash Loss

The post office was broken into on Saturday morning with the safe dynamited. Four to five dollars in small change were taken, while about eighty dollars in stamps, many in books, were stolen. Two shots were fired into the safe, glass front shattered, and several mailbox boxes damaged. No clear suspects yet, though two or three suspicious characters were seen in town.

Closing meeting of Carthage Music Club honors guests

The Carthage Music Club held its closing meeting last Monday night with Miss Rema Stone hosting each member’s guest. Prof. J. H. Scholl gave a short history of the club’s one year, and members enjoyed miscellaneous musical selections. Refreshments of ice cream, cake, and coffee were served as the dining room was decorated with spring violets. The event concluded the club’s activities for this year with a reorganization planned for next fall.
