Entertained By Hillbilly Band Seventeen Guests Attend Club Meeting

Seventeen members and guests of the Carthage Service club were entertained by the Sutton family at a Fletcher Methodist church gathering. The program included a prayer, a chicken dinner, new by laws, and songs by seven performers led by a four year old vocalist. The event ended with a lively performance by young drummers and instrumentalists.

Death of Leon Lennon of Charlottesville

Leon Lennon a Charlottesville resident died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday after a rapid decline while hospitalized in Indianapolis. He had served as an assistant assessor in Charlottesville. Survived by his wife Mrs Lennon, funeral plans were not yet announced.

Death of Mrs Rose Gray at 83 in New Castle

Mrs Rose E Gray 83 died Friday at her daughter Mrs J L Burgess's home in New Castle. Body taken to daughter Mrs Arva Whitaker near Carthage. Surviving daughters include Mrs Rolland Layton of Lewisville, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral Monday 2 p.m. at Walnut Ridge church. Interment Walnut Ridge cemetery.

Local Boys Arrested in Rushville Court

Max Brooks Carl Pitts Cah Wells and Frederick McKee all Carthage boys pled guilty in Justice Ben Cox's Rushville court to damaging property and disturbing a public meeting. They were arrested after a skating rink disturbance Sunday night and a fence torn down. Three youths paid five dollar fines plus costs while Pitts was fined ten dollars and costs.

Funeral services for Mrs Grace Stenger attend by Hill family

Mr and Mrs C G Hill attended the funeral for Mrs Grace Stenger sister in law to Mrs Hill at Lynam funeral home Greenfield. Interment followed at Walnut Ridge cemetery. Mrs Stenger was the daughter of William Porter of near Morristown.

Services Held for Rev Allen Kenworthy 90

Rev Allen Kenworthy, 90, a retired Methodist minister and brother of Milton Kenworthy, died at his Spencer home. He served forty years in the ministry. Funeral services were held in Spencer on Sunday and in New London on Monday, conducted by his nephews including Rev Murray S. Kenworthy of Carthage.

Fred Sims of this place aided police in Indianapolis when David Rigsby, wanted for a Ft Wayne robbery, was cornered in front of the Claypool hotel. After a scuffle and a run onto the sidewalk, Mr Bunker tackled Rigsby while Fred grabbed the man’s legs until officers arrived.

Musical March of Time by Choral Club Planned in Carthage

The Choral Club will present Musical March of Time on Monday September 30 with humor and melodies from 1850 to today. Father Time and Uncle Sam are among dramatized numbers to benefit the school band led by Mrs. Harold Phelps. High School Day Invitations From Indiana University

Carthage high school pupils receive invitations via their principal to Indiana University's High School Day events at Bloomington. The Oct. 5 game features Indiana against Texas, a noted top football program, with Wendell Willkie expected to attend. A second day on Nov. 9 pits Indiana vs Michigan State, with advance ticket deadlines Sept. 30 and Nov. 4. Campus tours by the Memorial Union accompany the games.
