A S Benson 80 longtime founder and president of the Live Stock Exchange Bank at the Union stock yards died Tuesday at his Indianapolis home. He was born in Rush county and moved to Indianapolis at age nine gaining wide ties with Indiana livestock producers and dealers.

A head-on collision between Southern Pacific passenger trains The Californian and The Argonaut 180 miles east of Los Angeles near Tortuga between Indio and Yuma left six passengers and three trainmen dead and about 40 injured. Diphtheria Claims Life Of Norma Jean McCorkle

Auto accident at Three Mile Bridge injures pair
Max Nowotne and Ruth Colton were hit by a Plymouth fleeing two unknown men near Knights Town Road. Nowotne suffered a knee injury and chipped teeth while Colton sustained severe bruising. The other car fled. the Plymouth had been stolen in New Castle. Nowotne works at the Container Corporation. Colton is from Terre Haute visiting the Henleys.
