Social calls, visitors, and meetings highlight a busy week.
Local note items report Busy Bee Spiceland Academy opening on Tuesday September 7. Visits and guest events at homes including Mr and Mrs Will Kyser and Mrs Eunice H Pablow. Labor Day post office hours noted and several societal meetings postponed or planned.
Mr and Mrs Geo M Kullmer returned from the East. Mrs O W Righter and daughter Miss Lillian were in Indianapolis. Mrs George Nardloh and children from Reading Ohio visited Mr and Mrs Will Kyser. We sell the finest Ice Cream in town Busy Bee on Main St. Jee L McBride, owner. Jee L McBride died. Funeral at Center church. Burial at local cemetery. Engagement announced Miss Edna Doane Amo to John William Ellis Lima Peru. Winslow sale realized 6500. Comstock liver stock sale postponed to Saturday. Hill and McCarty hosted at Indianapolis. President Robert L Kelly Barham College spoke at Friends Church. Goldsmith sang solo. Tweedy and Stager visited S B Walker family Indianapolis.
Superintendent Nathan W Coil and Principal Evangeline E Lewis lead the high school with staff including C L Tolliver for Print Language and Domestic Science, Miss Willella Woodbridge for Language, Miss Madge Wilkin for Music and Drawing, and grade teachers Pauline Brown Pearl Young Helen Boyd Maude M Lewis. Reuben B Henley has again been selected as Janitor at the high school building.
Township Trustee Jesse Henley announces that the schools will reopen Monday September 13 after a thorough cleaning and with added equipment. Teachers listed include Walnut Ridge T A Miss Lucy White 7 B Miss Elsie Chappell No 8 Miss Irma Terhune.
