Fall Festival Returns Strong in Carthage Pleasing Crowd
The Fifth Annual Fall Festival in Carthage drew a record crowd with excellent weather. Net Center funds reached 1587.47 after 100 was donated for the dance by Container Corp. of America. Highlights included a large talent show, a parade, floats, prizes, and the Festival Dance with Queen Bonnie Manche crowned. Total proceeds totaled 1687.47 with many boosters thanked for support and a detailed fund report listed donor groups and amounts.

Six Arlington boys escape serious injuries in narrow wreck
A car driven by 17 year old Theodore Waggoner left the road at the southwest corner of the V, speeding through Arlington Tuesday night. Six boys were in the vehicle. Dickie Moore, Bobbie Buck, and Dick Heath were injured, with Moore treated at Rush Memorial Hospital. Waggoner lacked a license and the car bore four green rear lights.

Fatal collision at unmarked Mill and Walnut intersection
Two cars met at the unmarked intersection of Mill and Walnut on Tuesday at 3 pm. Mrs Gilfred Marsh and her two daughters and Mrs Caleb Marsh were in one car driven by Mrs Marsh. Clyde Magee drove the other car with Mrs Magee aboard. The Marsh vehicle entered north, was struck at the rear by the Magee car, carromed into a lawn, then stopped against John Clevidence’s porch. occupants suffered minor cuts and nervous shock.

Quail and pigeon releases spark Rush County sports effort
The Orange Township Conservation Club and the Rush County Field Trial Club report releasing 353 quail in the county. County clubs plus state releases total 120 more quail and 126 pheasants. William J Reeves age 83 died Tuesday morning at his home after a two year illness. He lived west of Carthage for 30 years with his wife. Survivors include his widow a son Earl of Indianapolis a daughter Lena Louder of Greenfield two brothers Freeman and Edward Reeves of Greenfield and two grandsons of Indianapolis. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 pm at Lynam Funeral Home Greenfield with Rev Edgar White officiating. Burial followed in Park Cemetery Greenfield.
