Carthage High principal Charles Morris reported eleven absent pupils in the grade school and twenty one in the high school on Thursday due to colds and influenza. The district resumed classes after a Wednesday night water main break reduced town water pressure, which was restored by 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Arrests Made In Rush County Drunken Driving and Public Intoxication
William G. Scott of Bicknell was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident after backing into Samuel S. Coons 1956 Chevrolet on Mill Street. He pleaded guilty to both charges and had his driver’s license suspended for one year. Thomas Cadwallader of Carthage was jailed for public intoxication, fined $15, and held for failure to pay.
