Mr and Mrs Frank attended a wedding and reception in Bedford on Friday November 18 at 7 30 p m at the First Methodist Church.
Mike Watkins CPA of Albuquerque has been elected a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is with Peat, Marwick Mitchell & Co and is married to Sherril Mosier. A public hearing by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources will address rules for land and facilities under the State Division of Fish and Game at 7:30 p.m. November 28 in the World War Memorial, Indianapolis. Charles Werner will serve as hearing officer.
Mr and Mrs James Neal and Mrs Evelyn Neal attended the stage show Odd People at Clowes Hall Indianapolis Saturday night starring Geore Goble and Phil Harris.
The regular Post 316 meeting approved a joint family pitch-in with the auxiliary on Monday December 5 1966 at 6 30 p m at the Community Center. Attendees also discussed Christmas boxes and a canned goods and toy drive for local schools while avoiding used clothing. After adjournment the group met at Geise's Restaurant for refreshments. Dale W Pitts 21 travels from Knightstown Ind as a cannoneer in Vietnam with the 1st Battalion 44th Artillery arriving November 7 and formerly of Knightstown High School class of 1963.
Carthage Raiders defeated Manilla Owls 92 to 56 on Tuesday night. Ten Carthage players scored with Mohr, Cassidy, and Ernst leading the box score. King used all ten players again. The B team lost 30 to 28 in the curtain raiser.
Manilla beat Carthage 30 to 28 as the visitors rallied late after trailing by eight at halftime. Markle Gordon and Fenton led Manilla with 10 8 and 9 points while Ray scored 13 for Carthage and Hampton 6.
Mays Junior High routed Carthage 72 to 49 led by Dana Brown with 45 points in a high scoring night. Edwards led Carthage with 32 as Mays built a 38 24 halftime lead and extended to 58 35 after three periods. Saturday visitors were Mr and Mrs Freeman Blessing at Greenfield with Mr and Mrs Robert Blessinger. Sunday dinner guests included Mrs Howard McCorkle and Mr and Mrs Elmer Hall of Manilla.
Chicago hosts the 66th International Live Stock Exposition from November 25 to December 3 with entries from 41 states and Ontario. Dairy and beef cattle, horses, sheep, and swine across 36 breeds compete for $135,000 in prizes, plus related horse shows and rodeo events led by Tommy Steiner.
Mr and Mrs Noah Leisure joined Thanksgiving guests of Mr and Mrs Jack Downey and family in Indianapolis. Howard Mc Corkle and daughter DelMonte Wagner visited Mr and Mrs Richard Pratt in Sexton. Logan Nelson hosted George Condron of Hamilton Ohio for Sunday dinner. Carl Foust and daughter entertained Fred Ullamann from Fort Wayne and Alma Reddick hosted Carl Reddick and daughter from Cambridge City along with Leonard Jackson for dinner at Vance's Restaurant in New Castle.
Ida May Winslow 87 of Carthage died Friday after two years of ill health at Hi County Hospital New Castle. She was born May 29 1879 in Vevay and married George Winslow Oct 22 1896. Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday at Mortuary Carthage with burial Riverside Cemetery. Reverend Emmett Dickson officiated. Survived by husband. half sister Mattie Magee preceded in death.
Purdue University reports 77 Rush County students enrolled across its five campuses during 1965 66 including summer session. The figure spans Lafayette and regional campuses in Indianapolis Hammond Michigan City and Fort Wayne. Purdue Alumni Association lists 132 Rush County alumni with known addresses.
Mr and Mrs Harold Culbertson recently visited Mr and Mrs Roy Culbertson in Lawrenceburg. Cornelia Beher of Rushville stayed with Mrs Nelle Beher for Thanksgiving and is visiting. Mrs Jess Baker from St Louis MO was a weekend guest of Mrs Beher. Mrs Norman Edwards and family with her brother Mr and Mrs Warren Hill and family of Wilkinson joined. Mr and Mrs Forrest Beck were Saturday supper guests of Mr and Mrs Melvin Beck and family at New Castle.
