Mrs. Belle Drysdale Nelson Dies Near Carthage

Mrs. Belle Drysdale Nelson died Friday at 6 30 am at her home southwest of Carthage after a year of ill health and a final complication of diseases. She was born January 23 1867 in Rush county and married William C Nelson November 11 1885. Survived by husband three daughters Bessie Robbins Elizabeth Gephart Nettie Six two sons Ben Nelson Russell Nelson two brothers Oliver Drysdale Jesse Drysdale fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at Arlington Methodist Church with Rev Frank Shepherd and Rev Charles Buck officiating. Burial in Arlington cemetery.

Two Youths Escape Serious Injury After Buick Crash

Junior Conley and Raymond Butler rode in a 1938 Buick that plunged down an embankment near North Main street and the Big Four tracks. The car telescoped its motor and seats but the occupants escaped with minor injuries. Butler suffered a deep cut above one eye.

State police plan firm inspection of school buses

State police will inspect over 6,500 school buses starting November 1 to remove unsafe vehicles. Inspectors report an 18 percent rise in bus crashes last year with 92 buses carrying children involved in 1945 incidents. Drivers given 10 days to repair deficiencies or risk bus removal and possible prosecution.

George C. Adams 67 died Tuesday at 9 p.m. at the home of Lawrence Price in Ripley township after a six week illness. Born April 6, 1879 in Rush County, son of John W. and Ruth Carter Adams. He belonged to Hannegan Christian church and Arlington Odd Fellows. Wife Grace Price preceded him in death. Sister Nellie Headlee of Shelby County survives. No Gun Hunt Scrapped at Jasper-Pulaski Ducks Scarce
