Rescue Mission Saves 33 From Squalus Submarine
The United States Navy completed a major rescue off New Hampshire when 33 were saved from the submarine Squalus. Twenty six are dead or missing after the craft sank to the ocean floor.

Mont Lacy Expires Monday Morning in Hancock County
Mont E. Lacy aged 57 died at his Westland area home at 3 40 Monday morning after a brief paralysis illness. He was born in Hancock county and farmed with his brother Carl until Carl's death ten months ago. Survived by mother two brothers Claude and Clarence and several nieces and nephews. He belonged to Red Men and Haymakers lodge. Funeral held Wednesday at 1 30 at home led by Rev Addie Christie and Rev Frank Edwards. Interment Walnut Ridge cemetery.

Dangerous Crossing Claims Three Lives En Route to Game
Three Muncie men were killed when their automobile was struck by a Pennsylvania Railroad passenger train near Dunreith on U S Highway 40 while en route to a Cincinnati baseball game. Victims were Charles Goodpasture 34 Ralph Goodpasture 30 and Abner Brown 40. The car stalled across the tracks and was dragged 200 feet before demolition. Traffic halted for hours.

Ida S Henley aged 89 died at her South Main Street home at 6 30 PM Tuesday after a brief illness. She had returned May 1 from Florida with daughter Lillian. Born December 9 1849 in Adrian Michigan she taught school years in Carthage and married William Penn Henley October 18 1876. Survived by five children twelve grandchildren one great grandchild and sister Mrs Robert B Henley of Hartford Conn. Funeral at 3 PM Thursday with Rev Kenworthy. interment Riverside Cemetery.
