Ripley township 4-H Club boys met at the school building on Wednesday night to report on their projects. Mr. Behr gave a talk on raising corn and completing their projects. Clarence Helms Howard Hill and Paul Wirtson were named to the program committee.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Brooks, 77, died Friday night at her Walnut Ridge home near Carthage after nine months of illness. Born January 15, 1855, she lived on the family farm all her life. Survived by her husband Frank Brooks and 13 children including Frank, Alice Macey, and Charles. 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral 10:30 Monday at Walnut Ridge Church with burial in its cemetery.
An eleven room frame house on the Fred Jessup farm northwest of Carthage was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning at about eleven o'clock. A chimney on the roof is blamed for starting the blaze which spread rapidly before aid could halt the flames. Contents including fruit clothing and household goods were lost. the family saved only a few items. Damage was covered by insurance.
