Church notes outline Sunday School at 9 30 led by Donald Staten Supt. An Easter program starts 6 30 am by the Young People followed by an Easter breakfast. Sunshine Circle met at Mrs M F Lovett's home Wednesday. Come and bring someone. observe the Easter spirit.
The revival at Wesleyan Church runs each service with Rev. E. E. Cory of Marion Indiana preaching old time sermons. Come tonight at 7:30 from 9:30 a.m. Sunday School to 10:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. services. Pastor Edward Smithee extends a cordial welcome.
The Women’s Missionary Society gathered at Mrs. W. J. Phelps’s home for a Wednesday afternoon session. The Intermediate C. E. group celebrated a joyous return from sickness quarantines with a plentiful paper supper and grateful cheer. Announcements for Sunday include Sunday School at 9:30 p.m. and Evening Worship at 7:00 p.m.

The Woman's Literary Circle met at Mrs. Walter J. Phelps's home with fifteen members present. Mrs. W. L. Tetrick read Louisiana and Mrs. W. S. Rader offered Fabulous New Orleans. Mrs. A. J. Carr provided Creole music. James Mosier of Cincinnati visited Carthage relatives. Roy Copher and Roy Renegar made a business trip to Atlanta. Arminta Jean Moore recovered from illness and returned to school.
A Good Friday observance at Fletcher M E Church on March 26 features a 1 PM service with pastors and choirs from Carthage area churches. The seven sayings of Christ on the cross are presented through brief messages, scripture readings, hymns, and solos to reflect on the significance of the crucifixion.
A report by Dr. Charles Kettleborough shows property taxes accounted for 61.4 percent of all receipts across state, counties, townships, towns, and school corporations in the last fiscal year. Bond interest, gasoline tax, inheritance tax, and poll tax contributed smaller shares to total government collections.

The Class tournament concluded Monday with Junior Girls defeating Senior Girls and Sophomore Girls beating Freshmen Girls. Junior Boys won over Sophomore Boys while Freshmen Boys defeated Senior Boys. Finals followed Wednesday as Junior Boys vs Freshmen Boys and Junior Girls against Sophomore Girls. Elsie Williams won the local oratorical contest with Malcolm Jessup second. The operetta Pickles debuts March 25 at 8 pm in the auditorium with 25 cent admission.
The Greenfield Packing Company thermometer showed 4 degrees above zero around 6 am, with a slow warmup through the day. Local residents share weekend visits and connections including Carl Norris family, J A Taylor near Pendleton, and Mary Milfer injured recently in a fall.
During the annual board meeting, Samuel Insull Jr. became chairman. Robert M. Feustel is president, succeeding E Van Arsdel who becomes vice president. New vice presidents include William A. Sauer and others were re elected. Edwin J Booth named assistant to the president with several officers retained or re elected.
The Rushville area sees a surge in Democratic activity as several candidates file Monday for Democratic precinct committeemen. Filers include Bert Oneal in tenth precinct Rushville J M Schantz in sixth precinct Rushville John W Colvin in third precinct Rushville Mary Ruhlman first precinct Rushville Ruth Bennett eighth precinct Rushville and others in Anderson Union. Also notes civic items: Mable DeMoss ill with mumps. Johnny Moore and Russell Lingille trip to Chillicothe Ohio. Marjorie and Freda McMannus visit Chicago. Mrs Roy Cophagus and Helena visit Knightstown. Robert McClarnon of Charlottesville visits.
Mr and Mrs James Terhune entertained with a twelve o'clock dinner Sunday. Covers were laid for Mr and Mrs O L Newman of Greensburg Mr and Mrs Ben Shank land and soon of Elwood Dr and Mrs Harry Boyle of Chicago Miss Mary Terhune of Anderson and Mr and Mrs Roscoe Brown and family of near Knightstown.
Sturdivant announces Easter Week booking at the Indiana Theatre featuring Ted Lewis the high-hatted tragedian of song, his Musical Clowns orchestra, singing and dancing in a new stage show starting Friday March 25. The 20-year veteran star is known for a distinct personality and versatile musical performance.
The Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis announces a coming month of musical acts likely to please dancers and fans of named orchestras. The schedule promises notable performances and heightened public interest in live music at the venue.
Fred Sims Jr of Carthage a sophomore at Indiana University is chosen for the leading male role in the 1932 Jordan River Revue. He starred in Garrick Gaieties this year and is a Sigma Alpha Epsilon member. Revue dates include Bloomington April 12 to 14 and Indianapolis April 23 with Muncie April 21 and 22.
The Carthage School junior girls won the class tournament with a 3 to 4 score over the sophomores, while junior boys beat their rivals 17 to 4. Freshmen boys defeated Seniors 11 to 7 in the finals after a preliminary faculty versus backdrivers game.
