Lewis Vernon Hardwick aged 59 died suddenly of a heart attack at his Waldron area home last Thursday. Survivors include his widow one son and one daughter Mrs Marvin Johnson Carthage RR and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday.
The Carthage Legion Post No. 316 will hold its regular meeting next Wednesday night at the Community Center. The Order of Eastern Star Chapter 574 also schedules a regular meeting next Wednesday at 7 30 p.m. in their stated session.
Mr and Mrs Eldon Plank of oz welcomed a daughter Julie Ann born today March 6 at Rush Memorial Hospital weighing 7 15 oz. The birth announced in local notes. CHI RHO MEETS held Mondays 7 to 8 30 pm with 25 attendees. Linda Harrold presided and readings included Our Life by Rev Robert Kendall.
Mr and Mrs Jerry Edwards move from the country to their town home bought from Mr Nixon. Wayne Draper family plans weekend move from Homer area to Elmina Parish farm vacated by the Edwards. Bob Nigh family returns to Carthage Rural Route 2 to farm former Osborn home from Markleville Rural Route.
Ben F. Neal will enter St. Vincents Hospital this Wednesday for a scheduled surgical procedure. The announcement provides no further details on the operation or expected recovery timeline.
East St. Christian Church hosts its annual birthday dinner this Friday at 6 30 p m at the church for the public event invites community members to attend and share in the celebration.
Jack Brown of Carthage was admitted to Rush Memorial Hospital last Thursday for an appendectomy. Chris Genet, six months old, son of Mr and Mrs Richard Stumpf of Indianapolis and grandson of Mr and Mrs Louis Humes of Carthage, was admitted to St Francis Hospital Indianapolis this week for observation.
The county clerk notes several residents filed to run in the upcoming primary. Names include James Webb Democrat for precinct committeeman and Stella Humes Democrat for precinct committee man, with Ralph Truitt Republican also filing for precinct committeeman.
The Meth odist Youth Fellowship met Monday night March 3 with Sue Siler leading worship and Jim Terhune reading scripture. Members sang songs to be sung March 10 when hosting the West Sub- District Youth Rally and discussed the Growing Up topic.

Walters is a well known entertaining speaker. The event honors the 1957 1958 Carthage Raiders basketball team and invites public attendance with baskets and table service.
The Ripley Conservation Club will hold its regular meeting next Thursday night at the local Community Center. Farmers in the area and local Container Corps invited. A special program is planned and the club partners with National Wildlife Week March 16 to 22 with the theme Protect Our Public Lands.
The Better Business Association of Carthage met at the Community Center with about twenty attendees. They discussed a sewage disposal plant to meet health regulations, urged timely action by July 1 and September 1 1958 for federal aid, and planned to hire an engineer and counsel. A full council report is due in April.
Mr and Mrs Howard E Henley departed Saturday for a several weeks trip and vacation to Florida. Mrs James Terhune underwent major surgery at Henry County Hospital Tuesday morning.
Mrs Frank Bly, 81, of Converse died Saturday at home. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Zook Larrison Funeral Home and she was survived by husband Frank J Bly two sons Ed of Carthage and Robert of Converse a sister Mrs Bessie Hazelrigg four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was a member of Converse Methodist Church Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodges.
Jury venues for the March term of Rush Circuit Court were drawn by the jury commissioners. The term opens next Monday. Mr and Mrs Jess Ruby and Mrs Frances Wolf visited Centerville friends and Mr and Mrs Robert Walker and Ed Ruby. Rev and Mrs Everett Chapman of Paoli stayed with Mrs Gouldie Kyser and visited Will Reagan in Richmond. They stayed with Mrs Kyser and returned home Thursday. Tuesday evening visits included Mr and Mrs Russell Roland with Earl and Virgil Roland and Charity Roland of Knightstown and the Roland children from Greenfield R R. Ruth Jackson attended a club meeting at Mrs Irene Gardner’s near Mays. Stan Collins and son Brent of Cincinnati were weekend guests of Roy Small. Mrs Robert Shockney spent a day with Mr and Mrs R E Geeding at Winchester. The Bushes hosted Norman Dovey of Anderson for dinner. Myri Mann and grandson Charlie visited the Manns near Morristown. Uni Fitch and son Orba visited the Sherwood family in Brookville. Mr and Mrs Forrest Moore hosted en route home from Florida. Pvt Larry Bramel of Ft Bragg was a weekend guest of his mother and family.
