Purdue extension data from Rush County shows alfalfa yields vary by cut stage. Bud stage yields 1.8 tons per acre, tenth bloom 2.7 tons, full bloom 3.5 tons, with weed-free hay highest when cut at full bloom or succulent stages, delaying harvest aids regrowth and weed suppression.

Mrs Sample Dies at Knightstown After Car Crash

Mrs Edward Sample aged 53 or 538 years died Friday at her Knightstown home from injuries suffered in a Christmas day car accident. She was the daughter of Mrs Jacob Todd. Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 PM at the late home.

Band concert planned for July fifth evening here

A local band concert is expected to be held in the evening of July 5 at the usual venue, with schedules to be announced and doors opening ahead of the performance.

Local Bakery Bought by Charles Garrison Near Indianapolis

Charles Garrison of Lawrence near Indianapolis buys Carthage Bakery from Thomas J. Passwater and takes possession Wednesday. Roscoe Mattix assists in baking. Garrison, who also ran a general store and bakery, has shifted to carpentry for four years and may relocate his family here this late summer.

Missing driver sought after high speed North Main crash

Two automobiles crashed on North Main street near A W Newsom's residence Tuesday night injuring Ivan Kelly of Knightstown and his cousin Foster Black, who drove the Chevrolet. Witnesses say racing cars struck the Ford sedan, causing a multi-vehicle collision and extensive damage. Black was discharged from hospital Wednesday. Kelly remained at home with chest and head injuries and possible lung bleeding.

Well Known Couple Wed In Indianapolis Ceremony

Miss Mary Elizabeth Fort daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward L Fort of Greenfield and Ross J Tweedy son of Mr and Mrs J Frank Tweedy of Carthage wed in Indianapolis Tuesday. They depart for Detroit the Lakes and likely Niagara Falls. Attending were Oneida Ruffner Mary Greenwell Bert Sharer and Robert O Malley. The bride a Greenfield High School graduate led Beta Gamma Tau sorority and managed the lab at Dr Benjamin S Binford. the groom manages his father's lumber yard. They will reside in East Side Park after July 15.

Dusenbergs to relocate. bass catches 54 lb in pond

Doris Poe, former Indianapolis teacher and daughter of Edgar Allan Poe, won first prize in a national essay contest on The Contribution of the Slavs to America, earning a scholarship at the National Bible Study School and a Butler College scholarship previously awarded by the Ben Hur Order.

Jolly Dozen 4 H Club Meets at Library

The 4 H Club met Tuesday at the Library with fifteen present including three mothers and two guests. Miss Mattie Clark gave a talk that was enjoyed. Girls displayed sewing, refreshments were served, and club songs were sung. Next meeting scheduled for June 29.
