At the monthly meeting the Carthage Volunteer Fire Dept named officers: president Allen Proctor, vice president Ralph Henderson, secretary Ronald Draper, and treasurer Robert Nigh. Fire chief for the country is Robert Jackson with assistants Bill Windsor and Bill Tumihity. Three new board members are Howard Windsor Howard Leisure and John Nelson. Existing board members include Bill Windsor through 1966 and Gene Wilson through 1967.

Carthage Little League GRADE school team crushed Morristown 18 to 0 with Randy Nigh pitching a one hitter and Carthage taking big innings in the third and fourth. Junior High then beat Morristown 4 to 0 behind solid defense and timely hitting. Host Carthage swept two games from New Salem last Thursday. Nigh threw a no hitter in the junior high and Carthage won the grade game 4 to 1 with Edwards impressive on the mound.

Two Farmers Lead Double Blue Lamb Pool at Rush County Sale
Fourteen farmers consigned 176 head of lambs and sheep at the second Lamb Pool held July 7 at Cowan Stockyards. The top consignor was Russell Norris and sons with 30 head. Howard Earnest and Charles Eskew each had all their lambs in double blue, the program s top grade. Lambs were graded by a Cincinnati Livestock Producers Association representative and sold on July 8 with top-grade lambs bringing premium prices.
