Mrs. Josephine Stevens returned to Carthage Sunday night after a vacation with Mr. and Mrs. Warren Stevens and sons at Brunswick Ohio. Robinson Named New Net Coach at Carthage
Don Robinson, member of Shelbyville’s 1947 state champion basketball team, is appointed basketball and baseball coach at Carthage High School. A 1948 Shelbyville graduate, 1952 Indiana Central alum, he holds a master's from Indiana University and previously coached Marshall Township High School for four seasons with 54 victories and 35 defeats. He will move to Carthage this summer, replacing Don Hedrick.

The $120000 water improvement project is completed and in service this week. It includes two 12 inch drilled wells with 250 gpm capacity, new pumping and distribution lines, chlorination equipment, and a heated building near Charlottesville road. Rites Held For Raymond Welsh 77 Carthage Native
Raymond Welsh 77 a retired canning plant employee died after a two day illness at Rush Memorial Hospital. A Grant County native he moved to Carthage in 1911 and worked over 33 years for DeSchipper Canning Company. He was married to Mae Pfeifer in 1911 who survives with brother Edward Welsh of Jonesboro Indiana and a son Edward who preceded him in death. Funeral services were at Hampton Mortuary with organist Ruth Hunt and songs Never Grow Old and Rock of Ages. Burial in Town Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bert Carpenter Ray Clarkson Chester Addison Royce Joseph Russell Parish and Claude Pearson.

Thomas M. Jordan, 76, died suddenly at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at his home two miles south of Arlington after a long illness. A retired farmer born November 22, 1882, on the same farm, he was the son of William and America Spencer Jordan. He is survived by four nephews Clyde J. Rucker Jesse R. Nelson Lowell D. Nelson of Arlington and William W. Nelson of Marysville Calif a niece Mrs Joseph Cotton of Ft Worth Texas five great nephews and three great nieces. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
