Mr and Mrs Billy Akers of Covington Indiana welcomed a 10 lb 5% ounce baby boy born Friday January 14 1966 in Danville Illinois He is the grandson of Mrs John Blessinger of Florida and Mr and Mrs Paul Akers of Carthage.
James V. Stevens age 20 of Carthage and Jenni er Lynn Boff age 18 of Carthage file for carriage licenses with Delco-Remy Anderson as party involved.
Mrs Laurabelle Goddard Robbins died November 26 1965 at Penny Farms Florida hospital. She taught in Carthage after moving there in 1911 and later married Rev M O Robbins. After his retirement they lived in Penny Farms where she remained until her death in 1959.
Charles Mosier vacationed in New Mexico from January 9 to 16 with Mr and Mrs Mike Watkins and their two sons. The group traveled by plane from Indianapolis, with a jet flight from Chicago to Albuquerque.
Mr and Mrs Victor Kerlin of Indianapolis announce the birth of a 6 % Ib son Stephen Kenneth born Thursday January 13 at St Francis Hospital Beech Grove Indianapolis He is the grandson of Mr and Mrs Leonard Jackson Carthage R 2 and Mr and Mrs Everett Kerlin of Van Buren Indiana He is the great grandson of Mrs Alma Reddick of Mays and Mr and Mrs Roy Miller of Marion.
Cap and candle lighting marked the end of the first semester for 118 freshmen of the Class of 1968 at Indianapolis Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. Arlene Kaye Ruby of Carthage was among those capped. Dr. Carl J. Scherzer spoke. Jack A. L. Hahn presided. ceremony included Florence Nightingale pledge and a Beacon Room reception. Relatives attended statewide and beyond.

Mrs. Nancy Bitner 84 died suddenly at home on R R 5 Rushville four and a half miles northeast of Arlington near noon Tuesday after ill health. Born June 4 1881 to James T and Anne J Irvine she married James A Bitner November 4 1903. Survivors include two daughters two sons eight grandchildren ten great grandchildren. Weekend guest Howard Winslow Jr of Yokohama Japan stayed with his mother Mrs Ione Winslow on Route 2 Carthage. Mr Winslow Jr and family moved to Japan two years ago where he works as an economist and head of planning for Standard Oil of New Jersey in Tokyo. He was in New York on business.
Mr and Mrs Paul Aker visited with Mr and Mrs Billy Aker and family in Covington Indiana last Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ray Richardson, Greenfield attorney and former Hancock County Deputy Prosecutor, announced his bid for the Republican nomination to jointly represent Bush and Hancock counties. He criticizes state funding allocations as wasteful and inflexible and cites his civic work with Cancer Crusade United Fund Heart Fund and ACTT. He also serves as Fortville town attorney and Blue River Township attorney.
Van Overman played sousaphone in Purdue University All Star Band Day on January 15 after selection by an Indiana High School Band Directors panel. The band, directed by A. G. Wright, included other prominent bandmasters and featured noted performers.

The following bank officers and employees also were renamed at Mays Kenneth L Earnest president Gail S Abernathy vice president Norman A Veiles cashier Betty Adams assistant cashier and Sherrie Williams bookkeeper. All officers and directors were retained at the annual meeting of officials of the Arlington State Bank held at the bank Wednesday afternoon. Those renamed were Roy Swain president J W Nelson vice president Loren Orme cashier and Effie Bagley Lowell Hutchinson Mr Swain Mr Nelson and Mr Orme directors. Employes of the bank are Mary Addison teller and bookkeeper Francis Rucker teller and book keeper and Doris Hamilton part time bookkeeper.

The Rev Homer Echelman aged 85 of Elwood died Sunday. Funeral services were held at Harmony Christian Church Leisure on Wednesday January 19. Ordained 1900 he served at Carthage Middletown Trafalgar Flora Springport Muncie Leisure and Center churches. He is survived by daughters Hilda and Beulah and one grandson.
Carthage Junior High beat Rushville St Marys on the local court Tuesday night 35 to 25. Grizzell led with ten points as all ten locals played. Fort St Marys scorers included Owens with 9 and Todd 7. St Marys B team won 24-18.
Oral Hull of Letts Indiana died at home Tuesday January 18 after a long illness. He was a brother of Luther Hull of Carthage and is survived by his widow Gertrude one son one daughter three brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Letts Methodist Church with burial in Letts.
Marine Private Stanley E. Back, son of Mr and Mrs Haskel Back of Carthage Indiana, graduated January 7 from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego after eight weeks of intensified recruit training. He learned small arms marksmanship bayonet fighting drill history and traditions and was assigned to Camp Pendleton California for four weeks of combat training and four weeks of basic specialist training in his field.
Mr and Mrs Gary Stewart of Carthage R R 1 announce the birth of their daughter Melissa Renee weighing 7 pounds 13 ounces at Rush Memorial Hospital on Friday January 14th.
Milroy Cardinals clinched the 41st Rush County Tournament by beating Arlington 57 49 in a tight final. Milroy trailed late in the second half but stalled to seal their sixth title and first since 1942 after a path through Morton Manilla and Arlington showcasing strong team play.

Acard Cantwell of Spencer was named director. he previously led the Research Department and helped establish state commodity committees.
