Mr and Mrs Fletcher Edwards attended funeral services last week for Edwards uncle Clay Robb in Fortville. The burial took place in McCordsville with others paying respects to the family.
Sgt. and Mrs. Robert Gard and son Bobbie Dale depart Tuesday morning for Camp Carson in Colorado for military duty and training.
Mrs Fannie Clevidence returns home Saturday from Rush Memorial Hospital after several weeks with a fractured hip and shows slow improvement. Mrs Dale Maize, visiting from Henry County Hospital in New Castle, is also improving slowly at her home.
Master Sergeant Eugene Herkless, who left Japan with the first troops to enter Korea, has been listed as presumably dead after earlier being reported missing since July 22, 1950. He served 27 years in the Regular Army and in World War II.
Bobbie Gene Stephens and Patricia L. Logan were married Tuesday by Justice of the Peace Lon McCorkle in a simple ceremony.
III Mrs. Louis Henderson shows modest improvement this week. Conrad Kizer continues gradual recovery at home. Elmer Hunt improves slowly. Mrs. Edgar V. Ruby also shows some improvement.
Eighth grade student Paul Wood of Morton Memorial School died suddenly in bed at the ISSC Home around 9 30 p m Saturday night. Rush County coroner Dr Robert Johnson ruled the death due to natural causes.
A plane crash on Cecil Mathers farm one and one half miles east of Knightstown killed three Columbus men around 2 45 am Tuesday after they had left a basketball game in Champaign Illinois where Ohio State played earlier that evening.

Merrill S Magee the son of Mr and Mrs Merrill Magee of Carthage Indiana is promoted to airman second class at Forbes Air Force Base Topeka Kansas. He serves as a security guard with the 815th Air Police Squadron as Forbes AFB a key recon base of the Strategic Air Command providing aerial reconnaissance radar photography and mapping worldwide.
Mr and Mrs Russell Roland left Sunday morning for a visit with relatives in Orlando and other places in Florida.

The AAA safety program promotes the poster and materials urging safe crossing at corners with police, signs, and signals as protection. Ten businesses and the Carthage Community Center were burglarized Sunday night with about 1100 dollars in cash jewelry and narcotics stolen. A safe at Royce Joseph Jewelry Store yielded about 700 dollars in cash rings and club funds. Police say it was a professional job with no clues by Thursday morning and suspect a well organized gang.
Kappa Kappa Sigma members are urged to attend a special event at the Elks Club in Rushville on Tuesday evening January 19 1954 to support polio victims. The sorority meeting starts at 7 p m with a business session followed by installation of new officers. Husbands and friends are invited.

Rev Dean McCoy was guest speaker to the Carthage Lions Club on Monday night. His talk on the Power of Words drew a warm reception with illustrations from Jesus, Abraham Lincoln and Albert Hubbard. A brief business session followed with committee reports. The club plans to attend the New Salem Club meeting on Thursday January 21 as part of the Lions get together program in the county.
Miss Marlene Graff stays as an overnight guest of Miss Phyllis Dillon and Mrs. Max Deeman at Elwood.
Mr and Mrs Guy Ewing return from Boulder Colo after attending the funeral of Mrs Williams Shaw aunt of Mrs Ewing who died New Year’s day of a heart attack. Word came of Corbly of Cincinnati dying of a heart attack New Year’s day while playing for a wedding. Craddock of Austin Texas died in November. Mrs Guy Ewing and Pete Ewing connected with Craddocks during service and camp assignments. Craddock was an internal revenue employee and well known in Austin.
The 36 year old Morristown chef Charles Snepp was found dead Tuesday. Coroner Roger F. Whitcomb ruled death by own action in Shelby County.
Funeral rites were held at 2 30 p m Thursday for Earl Osbun 61 chairman of the Board of Henry County Commissioners at Mt Summit Christian Church He died of a heart attack Tuesday at his Mt Summit home.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Stinger visited Kennard on Tuesday evening where Mr. Stinger delivered a talk titled Hobbies before the local Parent- Teachers Association.

Mrs Amy Gwin of Lafayette died suddenly Sunday noon from a heart attack. She was mother of Charles Elmore who lives with Mr and Mrs John White and sister of Mrs White. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Willow Branch Methodist church with burial nearby.
Indianapolis police report ongoing crackdown on moving traffic violators with no warning tickets for infractions. 1953 saw speeding truck and bus arrests surge 130 percent and total moving violation arrests rise 58 percent. Police logged 3,804 speeding tickets and patrolled 15,660,801 miles, up from 14,402,042 in 1952.

Dr. and Mrs. H. L. Hensler attend the State Veterinarians Convention at the Hotel Severin in Indianapolis this week.
