William Gilbert and daughter Miss Pearl visited at New Castle Wednesday and Thursday. John W Modders of Moddersville Mich suffered a 15 year stomach ailment and sold his farm. Miss Minnie Hill, a nearly six year stenographer at United States Board & Paper Co, resigns to join Maxwell Briscoe Automobile factory in New Castle engineering. She will begin immediately and has served as Fletcher M. E. church usher. Miss Naomi C. White resigns from H. R. Hall & Co to work in Selig's Cloak and Suit Dept in Indianapolis. She has ten years with R. H. Hill Co and successors and will visit YWCA room in the city before starting.
S. W. Bends of Coal City Alabama suffered a twelve year health loss blamed on liver and kidney trouble. Dr King s New Life Pills claimed to restore health and left him well. An unrelated line about Cowen marches remains.
The Salisbury Family, nine artists strong, performed a third appearance in Carthage at Fletcher M. E. church before a large crowd. Miss Mye Salisbury entertained with elocution and percussion. The Epworth League sponsored and netted 21.02 from ticket sales after a 59.92 intake. A street concert followed at 4 o'clock.
Residents and officials discuss options for a new hall, stock company ownership, and town funding. Proposals include a ground floor hall, waterworks with sewerage, and the need for public pride, with views from Butler, Sipe, Henley, Sattler, Kizer, Right er, Dana, and others.
The Rev. Joshua Stansfield of Meridian Street Methodist Church Indianapolis will speak at the Sunday afternoon meeting on February 26 at the Friends church. The topic is not fixed yet but expected to meet standard. A liberal collection will be appreciated.
Professor A D Hole of Earlham College will present a stereoptician lecture Friday night March 3 at the Friends church on Pre historic Animals. Proceeds go to the High School.
Mrs J S Shaw undertook a business trip to New Castle and Kennard on Tuesday and Wednesday, visiting local firms and meeting with contacts. She returned with plans to pursue upcoming opportunities and strengthen regional business ties.
