Parvel Moore is reported resting at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis while undergoing surgery. He is in room B-305.
Elmer Sandefur is slowly improving at Hancock County hospital in Greenfield and will remain there for several more days.
Wayne Osborn attends the Midwest Sales Meeting of the Baf fin Manufacturing Co in Gulfport Mississippi from Thursday through Monday to discuss sales strategies and product lines.
Charles D. Moore was released Tuesday morning and returned to his home after several days at Rush Memorial Hospital.
Golden Dawn Farms received the Reserve Champion Angus Bull Award at the Indiana Angus State Security Show held last Friday and Saturday at the Indiana State Fair Grounds. Mr and Mrs Donald Stoten Sr and Mr Donald Stoten Jr attended the Indiana Aberdeen Angus Association gathering Friday night at the Severin Hotel in Indianapolis.
Mr and Mrs Roy Herkless report fine weather and plenty of activities in St Petersburg Florida. They are enjoying their stay and observing the winter attractions in the area.
A meeting of Past Matrons and Past Patrons will be held Monday night February 18 at the Carthage Masonic Hall. Members from the area are urged to attend.

The Come-Join-Us Class met at the Christian Church on Sunday evening to arrange the Annual Pitch-In Birthday Dinner scheduled for Friday March 8. Further time and details will be announced later.
Kappa Kappa Sigma sponsors the local Polio Drive reporting 116.27 from house to house canvas and 51.54 from can and ball game donations totaling 167.81. Co chairmen A. W. Winfield and Foster Wilson note 130.61 in cash and corn donations turned over to the fund.

Mr and Mrs Worth Pitts welcomed a 9 pound 4 ounce daughter born Tuesday at Hancock County Hospital in Greenfield. Earlier, Gina Ann Mourey arrived Friday morning to Mr and Mrs Frank Mourey. Both babies and mothers are reported fine and have returned to Carthage.
Alton Smith of Carthage studies at the Ford Plant in Detroit Michigan for advancement at the new Ford Plant in Indianapolis. He has been in Detroit for four weeks.
Ralph Pearson attended the Peet's Company Salesmen meeting in Frankfort from Wednesday to Friday. Mrs Elmina Parish was a Sunday guest of Mr and Mrs Russell Davis in New Castle. Mr and Mrs Lindley Taylor of Noblesville were Sunday guests of Mr and Mrs Louis Humes.
Morristown High School Yellow Jackets clinched at least a tie for the Last Central Conference title with a 55 54 Tuesday win over Milroy. Carthage routed New Salem 80 60 led by Pat Watkins 32 points while Bill Parish added 21 as Carthage closed on Morristown in the standings. The Raiders beat New Salem again 80 60 on Friday with Reynolds 22 for New Salem and a 20 point Carthage margin. An O E 8 meeting at the Masonic Hall featured readings and officer elections led by Edna Nell Kennedy and Roy Stanley with a memorial service and community refreshments.

Paepcke announces preliminary figures for Container Corporation of America. 1956 earnings per share are estimated at about 1.70 on 10,508,892 shares versus 1.59 on 10,089,804 shares in 1955. Total after tax earnings about 18.2 million, up from 16.41 million, with net sales around 276 million, up from 258.46 million. Report is preliminary and unaudited. annual report to be mailed around March 4, 1957.

The Carthage Parent Teacher Association met Tuesday February 12 at the high school gymnasium with around 400 present. The program included a piano solo by Sara Jane Hunt who recently won state wide recognition in a Muncie contest. The athletic department presented folk dancing square dancing tumbling volleyball and basketball. Refreshments were served.
Purdue economist M Paul Mitchell predicts fed cattle prices will hover near $22 per cwt in 1957 amid rising cattle on feed and strong beef production. A larger feeder and stocker flow into the Corn Belt, subsidies in drought areas, and steady beef demand frame the outlook despite potential price pressures late in the year.
About 2 000 students from 45 eastern Indiana schools auditioned for instrumental and vocal solos and small ensembles at Ball State Teachers College Muncie on February 9. About 77 club members parents and leaders attended the Rush County 4-H Junior Leader meeting held February 4 at the Farm Bureau Store. Keynote speaker Walter South Bloomington former IFYE student shared Iraq host family slides. Next meeting set for March 4 at the Farm Bureau Store.
Mr and Mrs Russell Roland visited Mr and Mrs Earl Roland and family near Morristown on Wednesday. Their granddaughter Joyce Roland is ill with rheumatic fever. Wallace Cook of Indianapolis visited his mother Mrs Iva Cook on Wednesday afternoon.
The Carthage Lions Club held a regular meeting at the Community Center. Rev C L Davis of Fletcher Methodist led the program. two new members joined and two former members were reinstated. The club voted donations to the Leader Dog Fund for the Blind and the Lions State Cancer Control Fund, and planned a visit to Morristown next Tuesday at 7 at the Bluebird Cafe.
Ninety one individuals from eighty organizations in Rush County attend the annual Rush County Extension Advisory committee meeting at the Durbin Hotel. Worth Hodson presides as theme centers on The Changing Program of the Rush County Extension Service with talks from Purdue staff and leaders, group discussions, elections, and a unanimous vote to accept a new 1957 Chevrolet pickup for 4H and Extension use.
Mrs Bayard Baker died at 2 PM Monday in a Crystal City Texas hospital after a stroke. She was active in civic clubs and former Rush County Federated Clubs president. Survivors include her husband and four nieces from Indianapolis and Stuttgart Arkansas. Funeral planned Friday at 2 PM Thompson Funeral Home with Pendleton interment. Call after 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Rush County ASC office manager Donald Ruby announces one day sign up meetings for farmers to file cost sharing requests under the 1957 AC program. Meetings run 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM across six townships on February 14 and six on February 15, with a final filing deadline of March 22.
Four Charlottesville area churches organize a Sunday census with volunteer teams surveying households on February 17. The door to door effort gathers age, occupation and church membership data to guide future programming. A 6:00 p.m. basket supper and 7:30 p.m. community service follow at the Christian Church with music by the Friends Church and a message by Rev. Fred Gilleland.
