Second Republican Candidate Announces Rushville Candidacy

F Marshall of Rushville has announced his candidacy for prosecuting attorney on the Republican ticket. A 1922 Arlington High School graduate, he earned a law degree from Indiana Law School in 1980 and has practiced law in Rushville since February 1931. He is married and lives in Arlington. He is the second Republican to enter the upcoming primary race.

Former resident dies in Kokomo after service career

E. E. B. Alexander of Kokomo died last Saturday at his home. He was a former manager for the Public Service Company of Indiana local office before Mc. F Walker took over. He was a veteran of the Js war and is survived by his widow and one son Billy.

Fletcher church group entertains at Linton home

Members of the E. L. B. O. W. of the Fletcher Methodist church were entertained Monday night at Mrs. Paul Linton’s home with Mrs. Grace H. Porter assisting. After the business meeting they socialized and enjoyed refreshments. Mrs. Jesse Healey attended as a guest.

Rally At Hannegan Draws District Youth

The Rush County Council of Religious Education calls all young people from Carthage Arlington Homer and Manilla to meet Tuesday at 7 00 PM at Hannegan Christian Church for an evening of fun and inspiration. Rev W G Hamilton of Milroy Presbyterian will deliver the message and churches are urged to attend with representatives and a stunt or game if possible.

Ripley Township appoints new assessor Henley

D. C. Buell, rush county assessor, announces the appointment of Hamil D. Henley to fill the unexpired term of J. Rus sell Publow as Ripley Township assessor. Both Publow and Henley are Republicans and Henley will begin duties once state tax officials certify the appointment.

Morristown Publisher Commits Suicide at Monument

Sylvester W. Sammons 58 owner of the Morristown Sun leaped from the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Morristown. He fell 228 feet onto the base as bystanders watched. Coroner Vehling identified him with a traveling card and title in his pockets. Relatives said he faced health and financial worries after taking over the paper last week following a lawsuit. A crowd gathered while firemen and police extricated the body. This was the monument’s first suicide since its 1901 completion.
