Indiana began with Vincennes as the first post office in April 1800 with General W. Johnson as postmaster. The second post office opened in Emersonville in April 1812, led by Jesse Emerson, followed by Salisbury and Smockville in 1813 with David Smock and Samuel Smock. Four Indiana youths Marilyn Reichart Fred Coers Loren Weaver and Erik Stevens earned 1965 state 4-H awards.
