Raymond C. Morgan of Knights Town, father of Stuart Morgan, suffered a stroke Thursday morning at 9 a.m. He remains under medical care as relatives are advised.
Mrs Walter Blackwell works as a sales clerk at the Carney Ridlen store on South East street in the town. The item notes her employment in a local business listing.
The town marshal Lowell Brooks and his crew are commended for clearing the streets of much snow in the past few days.
Nelson Newhouse David Peggs and Lee Retherford Jr from Mays Carthage watched the Purdue Iowa football game in Lafayette despite freezing temperatures and windy conditions last Saturday.

Dr. Charles Demorest a Terre Haute based composer and organ instructor died suddenly Friday morning of a heart attack. He maintained a studio in Indianapolis and was associated with Mrs Hubert Hunts instructor role. Demorest spent 20 years with the Hammond Organ Co in Chicago.
Wallace L. Cook now resides at Valley Forge General Hospital Phoenixville Pennsylvania after a 4000 mile flight. The address lists him as Lt. Wallace L. Cook at the hospital facility.
Mr and Mrs Marvin Johnson of Carthage RR2 are parents of a boy born Saturday morning at Rush Memorial Hospital. Lt and Mrs Curtis Jack Porter of Waco Texas welcome daughter Ruth Jileen born November 21 1950 weighing 7 lbs oz Lt Porter is stationed at a nearby army camp.
Larry Jordan son of Mr and Mrs Johnnie Jordan returned last week from a tonsil operation at Rush Memorial hospital.
Robert P. Todd of Greenfield filed for divorce from Virginia N. Todd, after their marriage on August 20, 1944 and separation on November 17, 1948. The couple resides in Ripley Township.
Norman J. L. Berry of Route 2 Carthage completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center San Diego California and is available for assignment to a Fleet unit.
Judge William F. Marshall directs an insanity examination of Paul Owen Sleeth, accused of killing his infant son. Indiana psychiatrists Drs. John Griest and Earl Merkle will interview Sleeth at Rush County jail and report findings in open court, delaying the trial set to begin in Rush Circuit Court.
Friends report Mrs. Reba Fall Rigsbee suffered serious injuries after being struck by a truck making a wrong turn while crossing a street near her Marion home. She is hospitalized at General Hospital in Marion.
L V Tetrick of Marion and former Big Four agent Carthage were in a three car wreck last Friday in Trussville Alabama while visiting their son Doris and family. Mr Tetrick suffered a broken leg and is hospitalized. Address 211 Blake St Trussville AL.
The 1950 Christmas Seal Sale in Ripley Township is in its third week, having raised 142.50 dollars or 40 percent of its 348 dollar quota. Proceeds fund the Rush County Tuberculosis Association’s 1951 program. With three weeks left, organizers hope for full participation to support community health efforts.
The Band Boosters will meet next Wednesday at 7 30 p.m. at the Community Center. All members are urged to attend this urgent gathering.
The Corn King title at the International Exposition went to a Shelby county farmer and two time former winner Charles Fishcher who also won last year and in 1940. Helen Long 75 wife of Glen Long, of Marion Indiana, mother of Arthur Bowden of Carthage, died after a short illness. Funeral held at George Street Wesleyan Methodist Church with Rev Milo Bowsman presiding. Burial at Grant Memorial Park. Survived by husband four children three sons and two daughters, eleven grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.
Eight members gathered Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Bayard Baker. A message from County President Mrs Booth and a letter from Mrs. C Smith of Shelbyville were read. Topics included reports on F W C, a Community Health Committee poster, and readings by Mrs Carr and Mrs Everett Chapman.

At the Carthage Lions Club meeting the club scheduled a free Christmas Party for Ripley Township youth on Saturday December 23 starting 1 30 pm. The event includes a free movie candy and acts and invites all parents to bring children from three hours through high school age. Reservations should go to Secretary Harry Leisure.
Walter P. Paepcke, chairman, says holders approve 2-for-1 split and increase in authorized common stock from 1.5 million to 3 million shares. Outstanding shares rise from 990,474 to 1,980,948. He cites ten year growth and book value rise from 25.53 to 55.82, with new split value about 28.75 per share.
