Mr. and Mrs. Larry Jordan of Carthage announce the birth of a son on Tuesday night August 20 1963 at Rush Memorial Hospital. The event is recorded in the local beat notices for community records.
Mr and Mrs Leonard Jackson returned home after a nine day vacation visiting relatives in New York including Mr James Smith and daughter on Long Island and Mrs Sadie Small and daughters in Syracuse. They spent two days at Niagara Falls and traveled into Canada before returning to Indiana.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor R. Kerlin moved from Lapel to Nashville Indiana. Mrs. Kerlin will teach 4th grade at Nashville School. Mr. Kerlin will not teach this year and will pursue a master's degree at Indiana University. Mrs. Kerlin is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jackson.
Mr and Mrs Hugh Trowbridge and guests Mike Joseph and Jimmy Carroll attended the Sunday Cincinnati double header between the Reds and the Chicago Cubs. Earlier Mr and Mrs Caleb Marsh were at the game in Cincinnati last Tuesday night.
Mr and Mrs Arthur White returned home Saturday from a week's vacation at Lake Monastique near Curtis Michigan. Mr and Mrs Robert Moore and daughter Anita Gordon and children stayed for another week with the group. Jack B Moore and his son from Pendleton also spent a week there.
Lee Patton visits Terre Haute to attend the annual meeting of the Indiana Vocational and Practical Arts Association. Mrs. Patton and their children accompany him to see Mrs. E. R. Patton of Terre Haute.
James Whitfield Manche William Alexander of Ceg and Arthur Lindsay Knightstown spent the weekend in Chicago attending the White Sox versus Yankees series. They saw a Saturday afternoon single game and a Sunday double header with plans to return.
The Diekbrader Driver's Safety Club and families attended a Sunday noon picnic at Green Field Riley Park. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Dale May with sons Mr and Mrs Harold Gibson and family Mr and Mrs and daughters Mr and Ross with sons Mr and Mest neth Ray Mr and Mrs dees Jackson and Fred Sandefur.
Mr and Mrs Carl Edwards and their son Skipper of Carthage spent the weekend in Chicago and attended the games on Saturday and Sunday between the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees.
Mrs. Keith Ray admitted to Rush Memorial hospital for several days of treatment. Rex Edwards discharged from Rush Memorial Hospital after several days of treatment. Woodrow Clay admitted to Henry County Hospital for tests and observation in room 202.
Principal B. E. Smith announces the upcoming new school year with a detailed book list for grades 1 through 8. The list covers reading, arithmetic, English, science, music, health, geography, history, and home economics, noting many titles are new this year and that until availability is confirmed families should reuse older books.
Roy E. Harrold, Rush County US Savings Bonds Committee chairman, reports July sales of 36054, up from 28644 last year. Statewide July sales reached 13273001, up from 12337365 in 1962, a 7.6 percent gain. Forty one of the state's ninety two counties posted gains versus July 1962.
Miss Joy Reddick daughter of Mr and Mrs Roy Reddick of Center Township will represent Rush County at the Indiana State Fair Garden School from August 23 to 29. She earned the Sears Roebuck award for her outstanding 4H garden project work. The school offers garden management classes by Purdue University specialists and private experts with tours of Indianapolis area gardens. Reddick competes for a trip to the National Junior Vegetable Growers Association meeting in Pittsburgh this fall.
Attendees of the Yearly Meeting Sessions of the Society of Friends at Earlham Campus in Richmond Indiana included Mr and Mrs Paul Gray Mr and Mrs Sharon Hunt and sons Mr and Mrs Loyal Hunt Mr and Mrs Russell Nigh Mrs Albert Ray and sons Mrs Enid Burkher Mrs Frieda Chappell and Ada Chappell Miss Ruth White and Mrs Fred White returned home last Thursday after spending a week at the yearly meeting.
Mrs Oliver Earnest fell down stairs at her home early Monday while carrying glass jars from the attic. She was taken to Rush Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Len Sutton Jim McElreath and other top drivers enter the second annual 100 mile stock car race on September 4 and the 11th Hoosier Hundred on September 14 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Time trials start 7:30 p.m. for stock cars and 1 p.m. for the Hoosier Hundred with final lineups set by fast times.

Trustees in Union and Washington Townships seek a September 10 election on joining Rushville Consolidated Schools. Petitions certified by Clerk Dallas Hardwick show 61 Union and 92 Washington signers, with voting limited to those townships. A negative vote in either township defeats the merger.
The Moore family reunion is set for Sunday August 25 1963 at Shadyside Park Anderson Indiana. Low attendance prompts fear this may be the last gathering with Clara Ann Flanagan serving as secretary and treasurer asking kin to attend.
