State Happenings lists Mrs J O Campbell wife of the Marion Methodist pastor as having attended Sunday School for 28 consecutive years. The item also reports a series of local crimes and deaths including a double shooting near Muncie and multiple electrocutions in Indiana.
Across the county, families and friends gathered for reunions and visits. Notables include Josiah Binford returning from Miami and the Drysdale reunion in Kennard. Indianapolis and Columbus travelers such as George Adams and Virgil Binford were seen visiting relatives and attending events.
Wayne Wicker of Fountain town had a Ford coupe stolen during Shelbyville hhautauqua. William Coffin near Knights town reported a Ford roadster stolen. Lyle Wortman of Morristown recovered a stolen Ford coupe in Liberty. Missing parts include bumpers signals lights horn and more. Engine number erased title plates hidden. Mrs Emma Ponder Union county sheriff held the vehicle.
The Binford reunion gathered Tuesday at Walnut Ridge with nearly two hundred attendees. A morning of greetings and games led to a dinner and program featuring songs, readings, music, and family history updates. Attendees included Eli and Emma Binford and relatives from Carmel, Indianapolis, Shelbyville, Richmond, Lafayette, Logansport, Baltimore, Salinas, Cleveland, Greenfield, Knightstown, and other towns.
Fred Foust of Noblesville aged about 50 died Tuesday at Methodist hospital in Indianapolis from pneumonia after injuries from a June 30 fall while painting a residence. Survived by two sisters Della Foust and Ruth H. Darrow and two brothers Horace H. Foust and Will Foust. Body sent to Noblesville with funeral Thursday at 10 in the home, burial in Carthage Cemetery.
In a Salt Lake City letter dated August 15, William Siler Jr. reports visiting the Mormon Temple and planning a swim in a great lake. He also mentions visits to Wyoming’s Rawlins state prison and that Luther Du Bois and family were expected to arrive last Tuesday at Woodland, California.
Auction sale of the 8 room house owned by Alonzo Hinshaw at 211 W Pine St Knightstown Ind set for August 29 at 10 30 a m. Everett Button is the auctioneer with C O Bradway as clerk.
Bert Thatcher of Kokomo was held up two miles east of Greenfield early Sunday by two highwaymen who took $20 in cash and a greyhound valued at $250.
