Rampaging Bull Destroys Farmyard Gate and Kills Hogs
A bull on Floyd Williams east of Charlottsville rampaged at 3 am last Wednesday. It damaged trees and the barnyard gate, freed hogs and two cows onto the National road, charged vehicles, and killed three hogs. Neighbors corralled the animal with pitchforks. the bull was sent to Indianapolis stock yards for slaughter. Williams, once of a farm southeast of Carthage, is well known locally.

The Hannegan church hosted a Tuesday fair with an antique display from a spinning wheel to a wooden pitch fork and a home spun counter panel. TWO KILLED IN TRAIN-VEHICLE CRASH AT DUNREITH
Mrs. Eodity Stinson 36 and Lyman Hall 32 of Newcastle were killed when their car was struck by a westbound passenger train at the National road crossing in Dunreith. The bodies lay about 800 feet down the track after the collision. Hall was identified by a dealer’s license on the car. Stinson worked in Newcastle at the Public Service office and is survived by a daughter and her father E R Craig. Hall’s parents survive him. The crossing has seen several similar wrecks in recent years.

Lightning destroys barn on Abe Coffin farm
A lightning strike last Friday afternoon hit the bank barn on Abe Coffin’s Blue River Township farm where Anna Bundy lived. The blaze burned the structure hay grain and farming tools belonging to Mr Bundy. He and his son were inside and small movable property was saved. No insurance covered the contents.
