Wm. S. Foster Now Sailing On the Shangri-la
Ensign William Stephen Foster son of Rev and Mrs De Witt Foster of Carthage serves aboard the aircraft carrier Shangri-la and has been promoted to lieutenant junior grade. Planes from Shangri-la aided the Okinawa campaign by bombing pillboxes caves air fields and communications centers in support of ground troops. The carrier emerged from a nationwide war bonds effort that funded its construction.

Rush County announces the next lamb pool for August 22 after a July 25 sale at Cowan stockyards Rushville. In the last pool 188 lambs and 32 aged owes and bucks were sold with double and single blue 60.6 percent, double blue 29.2 percent, single blue 31.4 percent, red dot 28.1 percent, and others. Average weights rose with double blues 97.7 pounds single blue 91.9 pounds red dot 98 pounds. double blue lambs sold 25 to 50 cents above regular market.

Farmers to Save Interest With Land Bank Loan Conversions
About 21 000 farmers across Ohio Indiana Kentucky and Tennessee will save roughly 200 000 in annual interest as Land Bank conversions cut rates from 5 to 4 percent. Since 1933 over 71 000 loans have been issued in the Louisville district and 21 722 were unpaid as of June 30 1945.
