A bolt hit the west chimney of Carl Carson’s Walter Newlin farm home causing soot damage and a damaged rug. Family uninjured but stunned. bricks fell into the yard and road. Baby asleep near the chimney. extra incidents include minor damages and community notices about fairs and local moves.

Raymond McDaniel reported his Ford coupe stolen Friday night from a parking spot near the Severin hotel in Indianapolis. Police recovered the car Wednesday morning in a city corn field, stripped of wheels tires and all accessories.
Market M. E. Ladies Aid will hold a market Saturday afternoon at the Light office on E Mill Street. Proceeds support church work and local charity.
An electric fire siren will be tested at 1 p m on Friday with a single low blast.
A second meeting toward forming a band was held Tuesday. The first practice is set for next Tuesday at 8 p m in the Auditorium basement, with about twenty prospective members attending.

The Department of Agriculture explains grapevines ten years old can be replanted like young vines. Dig out three or four larger stems with soil attached, cut back to the main stem leaving a few buds to grow, and avoid fruit production until the vine is thoroughly established.
Camphor has long held value among the Chinese. Once drawn from gum, it is now obtained from camphor wood by sawing, cutting into chips, and heating in a still to extract the fragrant essence.
The Carthage Post Office reports every box on three rural routes painted white with patrons’ names in black two inches high, totaling 310 boxes. The effort, funded at cost by carriers, aims at civic pride and uniformity, urging patrons to keep boxes up to standard and to stamp letters in advance.
Dorothea Martha Holloway and Donald Winslow united in marriage Sunday at the bride’s home in Knightstown. Rev. Charles S. Dudley officiated. Attendants were Miss Vivian Wood and Theron Coffin. The couple planned a Muskegon trip and will reside on a farm near Carthage.
Ed Adkins reported the theft of five hogs from his tenant farm just west of town last week. The animals weighed about 200 pounds each and had right ears split in the middle, making them identifiable.
