Fire destroys home of William Gallimore in Arlington
A two story frame dwelling owned by William Gallimore burned Monday near Arlington school on U S 52. Fire companies from Segrave Rushville and Morristown fought the blaze arriving about 6 45 p m. The house was deemed too far gone to save though neighbors aided in removing furniture and all insured.

VFW Opposes Bonus Army Marches At Meeting
At the regular VFW meeting on Thursday night a resolution was passed opposing any movement toward a new bonus army. Commander-in-chief R. E. Contz urged posts nationwide to oppose a Washington march for soldiers' bonus action. The local post drafted a resolution calling members not to participate.

Yeggs Crack Safe in Walker Township Robbery
Yeggs cracked open a Hoosier Pete filling station safe on West Thire street, stealing 240.59 in cash and using tools stolen from nearby B&O railroad depots. Police traced entry to a broken east window with the Labour thieves leaving a sledge hammer and chisel behind.

Memorial services for Gerald Tomes were conducted at the Christian church in Milroy with Rev. L. W. Mattson delivering a sermon on Immortally. Ned Jackman sang Abide With Me as the choir performed, and Rev. C. F. Ault offered prayers. A military guard, taps, and a bridge salute followed, with Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars members leading the color guard and firing squad. Albert Allen Dies By His Own Action On Rushville Farm
Albert Allen aged 59 of Rush County killed himself on his Rushville area farm. He used a garden hose in the car exhaust to fill the vehicle with deadly fumes, the window opening stuffed with canvas. Found slumped in the rear seat by tenant Yeates, he were moved to City hospital where coroner Kennedy declared death.

Death of Lee Shields at 62 with Raleigh service
Funeral services for Lee Shields were held Thursday afternoon at the Raleigh Christian church with Rev. Cross and Rev. Hosier officiating. Shields, 62, a retired merchant of Mays, died Tuesday evening after a prolonged illness. He was born July 13, 1870 in Indiana and lived in Portland before moving to Rush County in 1917. Interment followed at Raleigh Cemetery. His widow Ila Hail survives.
