The Friends Missionary Society met at Mrs Murray Rawls home. Fletcher M. E. church Ladies' Aid gathered with Mrs Elizabeth Phelps. Sermon focus on Christian Love at 10:30 am and The Easy Yoke at 7:30 pm by Rev. Machlan. Epworth League meets 6:45 led by Mrs Katherine V. Kennedy. Evening service reflected the Laymen's Convention in Indianapolis with pastor Machlan summarizing sessions. Reports cover denomi national gatherings, Friends banquet, and evangelization plans.

Debate judges attend Oxford you know
Nice year at Gardner's Meat market Saturday. Will Sparks of Rushville, judge of the Rush Shelby judicial circuit, was among three judges in a Friday night debate at Oxford, Ohio between Oxford and Butler Universities. He then went to Hamilton, Ohio to lecture before a law class. E P Bayless of Indianapolis visited his mother Mrs Henry Lacy for her 69th birthday. He brought gifts and arranged a postcard shower with 78 cards kept by Mr Lacy until Sunday morning to present to his wife on a china bread plate.

May Hear Interurban Report at Town Hall Meeting
A mass meeting over a year ago formed a committee to study an interurban line to Carthage. Citizens may hear the committee report at 7:30 p m tonight at the Town Hall, with refreshments at Kennedy's Cafe following.

Light Plant Sold at Auction in Carthage Sold to Brenen
Light Heat and Power Company plant in Carthage was sold at public auction Saturday afternoon. Buyer F F Brenen of Parkersburg West Virginia beat rival H Steiner of Knightstown with a top bid of 3060 dollars amid rain. Brenen has eight years in electrical business and plans to take control May 1 with Henley remaining in charge.

Friday Unlucky for Pet Dogs in Local Week
A local record for a week reports three dogs killed by trains and several children heartbroken. Billie the fox terrier owned by C. Bil and a stray dog died on the 11 27 train while Teddy R H Hill's dog took the talent part. Laddie the Scotch Collie, owned by H G Rawls, was fishing when a 2 58 train struck it near the bridge and swept it into the river.
