Upper six grades students aged fifteen and over traveled to Rushville on Tuesday by three buses driven by Charlie Mosier Sharon Hunt and Paul Gray for chest X rays before returning to classes. The Junior class presented a successful play with strong audience turnout and netted about 141 in door receipts. The high school chorus prepared three numbers for Good Friday services and will perform again for the spring program and the senior banquet. A fire drill interrupted classes after lunch.

Mrs Olive Lovelace aged 85 died at her daughter’s home in Fulton Missouri Sunday night. She was mother to Mrs A B Thompson who had hosted her for some weeks. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church at 2 0 p m with burial in Montgomery City Missouri.

Carthage High School student Sue Ann Truitt of the 1952 class won the 10th District Americanism Essay Contest held in Liberty. She defeated sixteen entrants from Knightstown Connersville and local participants, earning a $10 district prize and advancement to the state contest. Truitt, honored for music and 4H, was a Girls State representative last year and plans to host the next district meeting on July 8.
