A note invites residents who participated in the first annual rodeo to attend a planning meeting at City Hall on Monday September 25 at 7 30 PM. The gathering aims to strengthen community ties and push forward local development and involvement efforts.
Jaycee Ettes met Monday evening September 18 with 19 members and two guests Cheryl Meyer from Carson and Cindy Smith from Macedonia. A joint meeting is set for Wednesday night September 27 at 7 30 at Carson City Hall. Lunch was served by Mary Henderson and Sue Hotze.
The Carson Commanders held a Sept meeting at Andy Smith’s home with 13 members and 7 fathers and 4 leaders present. Jeff Hotee was elected president and Brian Hotze vice president as new officers for 1978 79, with Richard Cody secretary Ron Cody treasurer Andy Smith reporter and Dagny McMartin historian. New members Craig Mickey Cary Blamy joined. members were asked to submit record books by Sept 30 and a tractor safety program was presented.
Gristmill presents The First Readin on September 22 at 8:00 PM in Raney's Celer. The event invites poets, writers, and readers to share talents or listen, with a line about bread and wine. Reporter Joan Scott notes the invitation and spirit of participation.

Carson Macedonia used a strong running game and timely passing to defeat SD 34-6 last Saturday. John Batten rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns, with Bret Lee and Gail Damgaard connecting on scoring plays. ISD threatened early but CM built and held the lead, aided by key defensive plays and a late first-half interception. The game featured multiple big runs, a non-converted two-point attempt, and a fumble recovery that set up CM scoring. Minutes from the Advisory Board meeting noted curriculum discussions and planned March gathering.
The C M Soccer Club met Saturday September 16 at the DeWitt Community Building Macedonia to elect officers. President Bob Isaacson Vice President Tom Henderson Secretary Sharon Isaacson Treasurer Kathy Canover Reporter Dale Stark. A jersey drawing awarded Amy Conover Paula Stark and Beth Freeman won the ball. Fall participation encouraged and sponsorship sought from Kathy Canover or Jim Blums.
Donald Matthews remains at Veterans Hospital Omaha after leg surgery on Thursday September 14. Elsie McClain dismissed from J E Hospital September 17 and remains recovering at home. Miss Eda McCready a patient at J E Hospital. Claude Boruff of Mace donia now in Council Bluffs home with a broken hip and at J E Hospital. Weaver Fenn also at J E Hospital following Friday surgery and is reported doing well.
The Carson-Macedonia Republican Women’s Club met on September 9 at the DeWitt Building with 10 members present. Guests included Rev Don Johnson Mrs Esther DeWitt and Mrs Herm DeWitt. Lucille Smith presided in the absence of officers. A brief program followed a short business meeting and a white elephant sale. Constitution Week is noted for September 17 1978 marking 191 years since the Constitution’s adoption with strong backing for the enduring federal framework.
