CROP Walk plans set for October 8 with 11.4 mile route
East Port County CROP committee met at Oakland Christian Church to finalize 1978 plans. The 11.4 mile walk starts at United Methodist Church Macedonia at 2 00 PM and ends at Oakland United Methodist Church. Bikers depart Hancock at 2 30 PM. Last year’s fund yield was 2978 10, exceeding half of Pott County totals. 1978 goal is 4000.

Food Stamps Expand to Restaurants for Elderly in Iowa
Beginning November 1 1978 persons over 60 and spouses may purchase restaurant meals with Food Stamps. In September Pottawattamie County will contact about 275 licensed food operations after an April 1978 start in other Iowa areas. Restaurants must offer inside seating provide the four basic food groups and a 10 percent elderly discount while accepting Food Stamps.

East Pot Farm Bureau Women Meet Sets Travel Aid and Dinner Pay
The East Pot Farm Bureau Women’s Committee met Tuesday afternoon at the Farm Bureau Building with 13 members and 3 children. A motion approved mileage reimbursement for delegates to district and state meetings and a $20 payment to Belknap Farm Bureau ladies for dinner table setup. Marge Pierce reported on the Cor district workshop. Lillian and Nina Thomas attended. An Oct 17 workshop is planned with Mrs Collins Bower. noon lunch to follow with co hosts Nene Park hill and Mary Bane. The group distributed information leaflets and lunch was provided by Monika Albers and Ruth Niemann.

McCready breaks wrist in CMS Panthers game
Freshman starter Brien McCready of the C M Panthers fractured his wrist in two places Friday evening during the CMS Treynor clash and will wear a cast for six weeks. Elsie McClain was taken to J E Hospital Monday, a Griswold Care Center resident. Miss Mary Ann Lytle, granddaughter of the Harold Smiths, is at Clarkson Hospital for minor surgery Tuesday.
