A nostalgic reader writes about a guest named Eda V at the Kaiser resort and recalls Halloween pranks from the Good Old Days. She shares lessons on wielding real power, notes a new Omaha dinner theatre, and contrasts it with the Firehouse, while praising today’s children for their Halloween behavior.
Dick Bowes is a patient at the Atlantic hospital after entering Monday evening. David Pilling shows improvement at J E Hospital and hopes to return home soon. Arnold Mass of Woodstock Illinois had minor leg surgery at the Woodstock hospital and is a former Treynor resident.
Rupen Nyquist Ruben Nyquist of Macedonia won the stadium jacket raffle conducted by the Booster Club. The winning ticket was drawn at halftime during Friday night’s Coon Rapids-C-M game.
United Methodists of Carson completed a project to cover and protect the church’s stained glass. Funds from a Pork Barbeque Dinner Ice Cream Social rodeo stand memorial gifts and a Window Fund offering totaled 6672 dollars with 1201 dollars over that amount raised. The Conway Universal Studios of Winona Minnesota did the work and painting and repairs are planned. The church thanks the community for support and lists services at St Paul Lutheran Treynor Iowa with events November 12 and 16 including Sunday School Worship and choir practices.
A multi church weekly calendar lists Macedonia Methodist United Presbyterian and Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints events in Carson and surrounding communities. Activities include choir practices Sunday school morning worship youth group conferences and Christmas cantata preparations with dates from November 9 to November 22, plus a fundraising bazaar at Oakland Manor Nursing Home and a stake conference in Council Bluffs.
Veterans Day observance Friday at 10:00 am at Carson School includes a flag burning ceremony by the Carson Legion. If weather allows, outdoor ceremony north of the Gym. indoors in the Carson High School Gym otherwise. Bring old flags for destruction and note Eighth Grade posters winner announced.
