Special Projects Hit New High in Semi Monthly Totals
The Salvage Section of the Conservation Division WPB reports a new record for August first half operations totaling 103 858 tons of iron and steel materials including reroller and relayer rail. The figure surpasses the prior high by 25 000 tons and exceeds the previous two weeks. Salvaged material breakdown lists non ferrous scrap and bronze, with 38 tons moved in the last two weeks from 25 yards. Engineers will cooperate with the Office of Price Administration and 300 mining engineers will assist. Rails were also removed under private contract with Metal Reserve Corporation financing, delivering 6 131 long tons at Houston and 1 750 at New Orleans.
