Grand Trunk Bridge to Scrap Pile in Saginaw
In Saginaw Michigan the 800 foot Grand Trunk Bridge spanning the Saginaw River, built in 1889, is being dismantled and turned over to the war production scrap pile. The unused bridge marks the second such conversion by Grand Trunk in recent months. One old flatiron yields enough scrap metal for two steel helmets or 30 hand grenades.
