Benler Clans celebrate 1987 with an auditorium renovation at Tetherova High. Deena's long dream fulfilled as 19 cast members present a modernized industrial play in a favorable show, drawing a large audience and strong returns.
A Carrollton group led by Commissioner Tom W Field and County Engineer Clinger met in Austin with the State Highway Commission to push a bypass plan in northwest Dallas County. The delegation urged routing around Farmers Branch Cartalston and Lewinville, arguing lower cost and local benefit over the Master Plan. The commission heard the proposal, studied the engineers report, and pledged to act in the people’s interest, with Field outlining a seven‑mile alternative. The delegation comprised Kelley Holman Rhoton and others from Carrollton and the district.
Carrollton High School outlines events from May 28 to June 1 1937 including a Music Revival Seventh Grade Graduation and Commencement Exercises. The Graduating Class roster lists officers and members with sponsors and staff. A quilting group event and communal dinner are noted with thanks to Mrs Clem. a reference to annual Titan movement appears amid garbled text.
Harvest time is underway with ample rains and growing weather. Oats have been cut north of Carrollton and buyers report high quality and strong prices per bushel. L F Blanton notes the best oats and wheat prospects in recent years, with early purchases dating to May 14 and a significant barley and wheat output. Myers remains confined at Bla hotie in a store incident, prompting local comment.
Union Baptist Church hosted a Sunday service with Brother Freeman and Mrs Freeman as featured speakers. The event included a luncheon at W F Hofmann’s home and a sermon stressing salvation through Jesus blood. Family visitors from Alice, Texas joined the gathering.
Memorial services at Frankford Cemetery will be held next Sunday May 23. Exarches are scheduled to preside at a ceremony at the usual hour. An invitation extends to all to attend in Frankford for the memorial event.
The High School Glee Club leaves on its annual Good tour to nearby schools today. They visit surrounding districts that send students to the Cat s shake Graviey drives the bus and carries the club on this trip. Prag Carver hosts the event.
BM B Tidwell recalls past crop losses and reliance on insurance as a May 10 hailstorm north of Carrollton damages over thirty acres of oats and some wheat. He notes the fields were sound before the storm and reports damage to crops and reports by neighbors.
The Brake family held its annual reunion in Platte National Park Sulphur Oklahoma last Saturday and Sunday May 16. It drew about 85 attendees including Mr and Mrs J Brake Mr and Mrs Roy Gravley and daughter Evajou Mrs WD Pyke Mr and Mrs Wilkie Pyke Mr and Mrs W Bia Mr and Mrs Kin s WE Brake and daughter Clovie Mr and Mrs Raymond Jones and children Mrs Homer Whitlock and children from Carrollton Mrs Herman Allen and daughter Barbara Ft Worth Mr and Mrs George Peters Mr Juma Brake Mel Rob Loander from Oklahoma City Roy Johnston of Lone Oak attended briefly. When asked about cucumber crops several hundred acres were under ants.

Memorial services at Cemetery Hill near Carrollton drew about three hundred attendees. Speakers included Rev. Taylor of First Baptist Carrollton and Rev. Kerr, with Harry Lord in charge. The event, marking residents and Peters Colony settlers, highlighted the cemetery’s beauty and the care given by W C Furnerox and John Watts as officers were re elected.
The Dallas Journal editorial titled Speedway or Street argues small towns need better by-passes and traffic safety. It notes most county automobile deaths occur on open highways rather than city streets, warns against unsafe highway development, and claims numerous hot dog stands clutter main routes, urging readers to consider safer, low-risk routes.
Carrollton high school football team clinched the county championship in a series against Wilmer Hutchins. First game at SMU ended 2 to 0, second game in Carrollton 6 to 4, and final at Wilmer resulted in a high scoring slugfest with Wilmer Hutchins’ team defeated. The county crown goes to Carrollton after the decisive contest.
Mr and Mrs UP Mayes and family attended a play at N T S T C college in Can ton last Friday night. Miss Cora Bell Mayes daughter of Mr and Mrs EP Mayes acted in the play. Miss Eula Smith formerly with Carrollton and now a student at the college led the stage crew. Mrs TC Davis was confined in Medical Art hospital last Thursday under observation for suspected chronic appendicitis.
