Mrs Susan Jane Merrell wife of John M Merratt died at their Midway road Walnut Hill home Sunday Nov 5 aged about 75. Funeral and interment followed at Merrell cemetery with pallbearers Wil Lacy Toi Webl Hrowned Brooks Walter Thompson Too Merrell and Leroy Cochran. She was a pioneer of Sallax county and had lived there over fifty years. Nine children survive four sons T C Merrell John B Merrell Walter Merrell and W J Merrell and five daughters Mrs W M Cochran Mine Maggie Merrett Mrs Julia Strait Mrs J Howell and Stra J Frank wife of Dr J Frank of Farmers Branch. There are seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mrs R W Hodges of Ridgewort Fort South of Barners Branch died at her daughter Mrs H R Seward in Waco on Sunday morning at 10 15. Burial was at Lathe Monday afternoon. Born in Ponusmee in 1846 she was in her 90th year. Her husband preceded her in 1900 and was buried at Lathe. She and her husband came to Texas after the Civil War and settled in Bails county. Survived by son Geo A Hodges of Dallas and several grandchildren. Funeral details noted with church and local names in the obituary text.
